The four years in the Department of Architecture at XJTLU, during which I was involved in various kinds of projects at different scales, shaped my understanding of architecture. They also helped me to identify what I would like to explore in the future. At the beginning of my studies, I was fascinated by nice drawings, neglecting the essence of designing itself. However, as the study went deeper, I became more and more interested in how my design could be realized and how it could make people's lives better. I set the focus in the final year on questions related to the feasibility and actualization of architecture and decided to explore this aspect in the following years of my career.
To better understand the process during which a project transforms from concept to built architecture, I started a two-year practice after graduating from the Bachelor. I quite enjoyed the process of building and was happy to see the realization of several projects. The experience helped me to determine further the focus of my career on the construction of architecture. I am now at the TU Delft in the Netherlands for a two-year professional Master in Architecture. As the programme puts equal emphasis on design and building technologies, I have learned new ways to approach design, such as, for example, initiating a design process from an architectural detail.
